Special | How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists (Updated)

Hello friends!

The New Year has given me plenty of opportunities to reflect on my reading habits, and consequently on how I create my reading months. Although you know by now that I already have a formula that I’ve been using every month, this year taught me that I may need to make a few small adjustments!

So today’s post will be exactly about that. I feel the need to revisit the rules and make small changes for the lists to be more adapted to my lifestyle, so I thought I would write it down – and why not share it with you?

So here is my (new-ish) formula to create a balanced monthly TBR list that works for me, and if it has been working for me:

1. Read 1 paperback per month (UPDATED)

I’ve had this goal for a while now and let me tell you why it is important for me to follow it: I own so many physical copies of books that it’s getting ridiculous. I think it’s important for me to keep reading books in this format so I can finally reduce my book collection… but it’s not very easy to achieve this every single month.

Is this rule working? Not really if I’m being honest. In fact, the reason why I’m writing this post is in essence because of this rule! Overall, this has been a very difficult thing to achieve some months, because I can’t bring my physical books with me as easily as I do my ebooks and audiobooks. Meaning, I don’t grab my physical copies as often as I do for other formats.

The change: Instead of committing to reading 2 physical books per month, I’m committing to reading only 1. Of course, it depends on the month, but overall this has been a very difficult thing to achieve, so I’m making my life a little easier and stress-free with this decision. I still want to tackle my physical TBR by being consistent, but I’ve come to terms that it is probably going to be a long process, so I’ll just do it slower! This is going to take off the stress I’ve been feeling for not accomplishing this every single month.

2. Listen to 2 audiobooks

This “rule” is also important to me but for a different (similar) reason. Yes, my physical TBR is long, but my overall TBR is way longer. By listening to audiobooks I’m able to finally get to books I really wanted to read that I don’t necessarily have in the physical format. This is a huge advantage also because I can listen to them while running errands, doing what I call “no-brain” tasks, and even monotonous work. All benefits!

Is this rule working? Yes! This is probably the format that is easier to grab for me because I can do other things at the same time (cleaning, working out, driving, etc.). So this is not difficult for me to achieve, so no changes are necessary.

3. Read 1 ebook

My e-reader is a very special tool to me and I love it so much that I always take it with me everywhere I go – grocery shopping, the gym, on walks… you never know when you’re going to need entertainment! My goal is to read one book per month in it because, not only do I take it with me everywhere, but it’s also good to read books that I don’t have physical copies for and for books I don’t feel like listening on audio. That way I can cover a lot of books!

Is this rule working? Another yes! This format is still easy for me to grab because my small Kobo follows me everwhere. No changes here either!

4. Pick at least 3 different genres every month

This is another important “rule” for two reasons. The first one is how I always try to read different genres. I always wanted to be a diverse reader, so if I try and read at least 3 different genres every month, I’ll be more than happy! The second reason is that when I first started reading multiple books at the same time, I started to mix stories if they were similar. This was something that I noticed and quickly fixed: I no longer read similar stories (similar characters, atmosphere, environment) at the same time. That is also easier to fix if I read different genres.

Is this rule working? This was always easy to achieve, so I’m keeping this as it is! Since I pick 6 books every month to read, it’s easy to just pick 3 different genres.

5. Read manga every month

I have so many manga series that I want to read, that I decided I should always be reading at least one month. A quick note: this doesn’t mean that I’ll be finishing an entire series every month. The goal here is for me to just pick at least one volume from the current series I’m reading and read it throughout the month. If I don’t finish the series that month, I’ll continue the next month until it’s finished. I love manga and I believe it’s a great palate cleanser to read between books!

Is this rule working? Although I’m having a small break for the holiday season, this rule is also working very well for me. Mangas are easy to read and I always have a manga ready on my phone to pick up. So this is another goal I’m not touching.

6. Read 1 book from my “30 Oldest Books on my TBR” list

If you don’t know, I’m keeping a list of the 30 books that have been on my TBR for the longest time, and I want to tackle them slowly. They deserve to be read, and I’m determined to read at least 10 of these before I get an updated version of the list again! I have the tendency to pick more recent books, so the goal here is to make sure I’m reading some of the oldest books on my TBR, and give them the love they deserve!

Is this rule working? Overall… it is working. To be honest, at first, I was thinking about changing this goal and make a little more flexible by making it optional. But I know myself, and that would mean they would be at the bottom of the list for way longer! So after some thought, I decided to leave it untouched because it’s been really nice to see the older books getting out of the list!
I guess the only difficulty I’ve had here is that sometimes I’m not in the mood to pick a book from that list because I want something that has caught my eye more recently. But at the end of the day, I’m also just committing to a single book… so can I really complain? I’ll make an effort to keep this goal going!

7. Read 1 book from a series

As I told you multiple times, I have a hard time reading the series – I have bookish commitment issues. So if I try to read at least one book from a series per month I’ll be making progress with a series! It doesn’t matter the format, as long as I read a series!

Is this rule working? Another staple in this list that will kept untouched. This is very easy to do as well, so no need to make changes here.

So as you can see, only the first point is going to be updated to be a little more stress-free, but I’m still keeping the other goals untouched. I think it’s important to remind (mostly myself) that life happens and sometimes things don’t work out the way we want. With that said, I’m going to try and follow this format whenever possible!

What about you, do you have any “reading rules”? Tell me all about it!

Thank you for reading friends! See you in the next one.

Happy New Year!

I loved 2024 because it was a great year for me. Sure, there were a lot of ups and downs, as we often encounter in life, but it was a very positive year for me overall. I feel like I grew a lot, and I had wonderful and unexpected experiences I never dreamt of having.

And for that I am thankful.

I am thankful for this incredible year and the amazing experiences I had.

I am thankful for the year that is coming and all the good things that will happen.

And I’m also thankful for you friends, for reading my crazy reviews and posts. It truly gives me joy knowing that someone reads what I write and I’m very grateful for all of you! So here’s a very sincere: Thank you. 🙂

Friends, I wish you all the best for 2025. I wish you health, wealth, and plenty of good times with the ones you love – and of course, I don’t even need to say plenty of good books as well!

We’re ready, 2025.

Cheers to the new year!

Merry Christmas!

My 6 Reading Goals for 2025

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! Are you excited for 2025? I know I am! Today I’m following up with a tradition here on the blog, with a post you already know was coming: my reading goals for the next year!

I love to make plans for the new year, and of course, my reading needs a ton of planning! Well, maybe just a little, but I love to set some new goals for the new year! My reading goals for 2025 will be similar to the ones I wrote in 2024, so don’t be surprised if you find some of them familiar.

One goal you won’t see this year is to reduce my book collection. I’m so embarrassed to say that I’ve had this same goal for the past few years… and I never reached the number I wanted! I have a ton of books, and even though I sold some of them and will keep selling them, I’ve accepted it will take time to reduce my collection. So this one is out of the list for now!

Ok, without further ado, here they are!

1. Read 60 books

This is probably the most important goal for me! This item is not news to you because every year my reading goal is set to 60 books. This means I plan on reading about 5 books per month, which I believe is a good number for me! It definitely depends on the year how easy it is to achieve it: some years it’s easy and I end up surpassing the goal; other years it is challenging! So this is a perfect number because it can be both depending on how my year is going! If I read 60 books in a year, I’ll be more than happy with my reading year in general!

2. Read 24 books from my physical TBR

I had a similar goal last year, but this time I’m planning on reading 12 books instead of 24! Reading from my physical TBR has been a bit of a struggle for me, so this year I’m making my life easier by lowering the number to read just 1 per month. I would love to reduce the amount of books I own, so this is why this goal is important to me. I want to prioritize what’s currently on my shelf, so hopefully this will go smoothly!

3. Read 1 fantasy series I have always wanted to read

In 2024 I’ve had the goal of reading 2 fantasy series, but in 2025 I’m going to make my life easier (once again) and commit to reading just one! I have a hard time committing to long book series, so I’ve added this goal to get out of my comfort zone and maybe fall in love with stories I usually don’t pick up. Here are some examples of series: Dune, The Lord of the Rings, A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Red Queen, City of Bones, Shadow and Bone, Throne of Glass, and many more!

4. Read 1 big book (>500 pages)

I’ve been struggling with this goal for the past few years, so for 2025 I’m going to try to read a single book over 500 pages. As I mentioned a million times before, I’m intimidated by big books, and since I know I’m missing out on some amazing stories, I need to fight this!

5. Only buy 12 books max

Even though I want to reduce my collection, I still want to have fun and freedom to visite bookstores and buy a few books whenever I feel like it – so this way I can buy books, but in a controlled way. If I follow this rule, I’ll be able to buy one book per month, and that should be more than enough for me.

6. Read every day

This may seem a simple one, but I really would love to read every single day. I know it won’t be easy, but I thought I would put this here as a way of making sure I read every day. I know this is going to be a little challenging, but I think I can easily read a few pages a day!

So what do you think of my reading goals for 2025? I think all of the reading goals that I’m setting are both challenging and achievable!

Tell me about you! Do you have any reading goals for 2025? Let me know!

See you in my next post 🙂

8 Books I would love to find under the Christmas tree | 2024

Hello friends!

Today I’m bringing you one more holiday-themed post! I hope you’re doing well and I hope you are excited for the holidays just like I am – can’t you tell I’m excited?

Every year I write a “Books I would love to find under the Christmas Tree” post, so it only makes sense for me to keep it up in 2024! But there’s a small difference this year – instead of 10 books, I’m doing 8 this time. To be honest, I struggled a little to find books to add to the list, so I kept it a little shorter this year. It seems like I don’t want to receive any books, but I promise you it is not the case!

So today I’m bringing you 8 books that I would be thrilled to find under my Christmas tree. These are books that have been on my radar for the last few months and I don’t have physical copies (yet).

Ok, enough talking – let’s dive in!

Let’s take a closer look at each book individually!

1. I Want to Eat Your Pancreas by Yoru Sumino

I have been intrigued by this book for a very long time! It seems like a really interesting and deep story, and the cool thing is that it is a graphic novel! As far as I know, this is a duology and the last book was published for the first time in 2026 – so I think it’s safe to assume this is going to stay a short series, which is great news for me. I would love to read this in a physical format!

Synopsis

“In this deeply moving first-person story, an introverted high school boy finds his classmate’s diary―and learns her biggest secret. Yamauchi Sakura is dying from a pancreatic disease and now he is the only one person outside her family to know the truth. The last thing the boy wants is to be her friend, but Sakura’s cheerful demeanor and their shared secret draw them together in this heartrending tale of friendship and mortality.”

2. Gleanings (Scythe #3.5) by Neal Shusterman

The science-fiction/fantasy series “Scythe” is one of my favorite book series of all time. So you should’ve seen my face when I saw the author released this new book! I thought this was a novella type of book, but it seems like it’s a full-length book, which was very surprising to me. But when I get to this book, I will need to read the entire trilogy again first because I want to have a fresh memory! Needless to say, I would be thrilled to find this book under the Xmas tree!

Synopsis

“The New York Times bestselling Arc of the Scythe series continues with “captivating…thrilling” ( School Library Journal ) stories that span the timeline. Storylines continue. Origin stories are revealed. And new Scythes emerge!
There are still countless tales of the Scythedom to tell. Centuries passed between the Thunderhead cradling humanity and Scythe Goddard trying to turn it upside down. For years, humans lived in a world without hunger, disease, or death with Scythes as the living instruments of population control.
Neal Shusterman—along with collaborators David Yoon, Jarrod Shusterman, Sofía Lapuente, Michael H. Payne, Michelle Knowlden, and Joelle Shusterman—returns to the world throughout the timeline of the Arc of a Scythe series. Discover secrets and histories of characters you’ve followed for three volumes and meet new heroes, new foes, and some figures in between.
Gleanings shows just how expansive, terrifying, and thrilling the world that began with the Printz Honor–winning Scythe truly is.”

3. Beyond the Story by BTS & Myeongseok Kang

Of all the books I’m sharing with you today, this is the only one you will recognize from my previous posts. The reason behind this is that I actually started reading the audiobook version a few months ago. But I never made much progress because I realized something important: this shouldn’t be read as an audiobook. Sure, there’s an audiobook version available, but I believe this book needs to be experienced in its physical form. There are photographs and art to be enjoyed… and I can’t do that with the audiobook version. And that is why I would be super happy if I ever get this book in a physical copy – because that would mean I can finally read it!

4. Penance by Kanae Minato

Ever since I’ve read “Confessions” from this author, I became very interested in reading her other books. So I decided to add this one to the list! If it’s as good as the one I just mentioned, I’m in for a treat!

Synopsis

“The tense, chilling story of four women haunted by a childhood trauma.
When they were children, Sae, Maki, Akiko and Yuko were tricked into separating from their friend Emily by a mysterious stranger. Then the unthinkable occurs: Emily is found murdered hours later.
Sae, Maki, Akiko and Yuko weren’t able to accurately describe the stranger’s appearance to the police after Emily’s body was discovered. Asako, Emily’s mother, curses the surviving girls, vowing that they will pay for her daughter’s murder.
Like Confessions, Kanae Minato’s award-winning, internationally bestselling debut, Penance is a dark and voice-driven tale of revenge and psychological trauma that will leave readers breathless.”

5. The Girl With No Reflection by Keshe Chow

I’m not ashamed of saying that this book caught my attention by its beautiful cover and intriguing title – and nothing more, because I have absolutely no idea what it is about. The truth my friends, is that I’ll be that person for the rest of my life – picking books by the cover whener I feel like it! Do I really care? Not really! Santa please, put this beauty under my Xmas tree!

Synopsis

“A young woman chosen as the crown prince’s bride must travel to the royal palace to meet her new husband—but her world is shaken when she discovers the dark truth the royal family has been hiding for centuries—in this lush fantasy debut perfect for fans of Song of Silver, Flame Like Night and Violet Made of Thorns.
Princess Ying Yue believed in love…once upon a time.
Yet when she’s chosen to wed the crown prince, Ying’s dreams of a fairy tale marriage quickly fall apart. Her husband-to-be is cold and indifferent, confining Ying to her room for reasons he won’t explain. Worse still are the rumors that swirl around the imperial whispers of seven other royal brides who, after their own weddings, mysteriously disappeared.
Left alone with only her own reflection for company, Ying begins to see things. Strange things. Movements in the corners of her mirror. Colorful lights upon its surface. And when, on the eve of her wedding, she unwittingly tears open a gateway, she is pulled into a mirror world.
This realm is full of sentient reflections, including the enigmatic Mirror Prince. Unlike his real-world counterpart, the Mirror Prince is kind and compassionate, and before long Ying falls in love—the kind of love she always dreamed of.
But there is darkness in this new world, too.
It turns out the two worlds have a long and blood-soaked history, and Ying has a part to play in the future of them both. And the brides who came before Ying? By the time they discovered what their role was, it was already too late.”

6. The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center

Ever since I started reading Katherine Center’s books, I have become obsessed with her stories! She writes wonderful books, and I wish more readers gave her a chance to be wowed. This is one of the books I haven’t read yet, so I would be thrilled to find it under the Xmas tree. I don’t know a lot about this story in particular, but I prefer it that way at times – so I’ll probably start this one without knowing too much about the story.

Synopsis

“She’s rewriting his love story. But can she rewrite her own?
Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies―good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates―The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!―it’s a break too big to pass up.
Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone―much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script―it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme.
But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter―even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But… what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much… more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules―and comes true?”

7. Kimi Ni Todoke, Vol. 1 by Karuho Shiina

Oh, I would be so happy to find this beauty under the Xmas tree! I’m so obsessed with this story that I devoured both of the series on Netflix – the manga version and the live-action action! This is a manga series I definitely want to read in the future, so I’m reading this regardless I have a physical copy or not. Very excited to dive into it in the future!

Synopsis

“Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine…for a horror movie. With striking similarities to a haunting movie character–jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor–she’s mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her scary façade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is make some friends. But when the most popular boy in class befriends her, she’s sure to make more than just that–she’s about to make some enemies too!”

8. Borrow my Heart by Kasie West

If you have been following my blog for a while, you already know I’m a huge Kasie West fan! I’ve read almost all of her books by now, and this book is one of the exceptions that I haven’t gotten into yet. So for that reason, I would be thrilled to find this book under the Xmas tree! Kasie writes the cutest and most fluffy contemporary YA romance you’ll ever read, so I will always recommend her books to readers of the same genre.

Synopsis

“When a girl overhears a guy getting verbally destroyed by his friends for being catfished, she jumps in to save the day—and pretends to be his online crush.
Wren is used to being called a control freak. She doesn’t care; sticking to the list of rules she created for herself helps her navigate life. But when a cute guy named Asher walks through the door of her neighborhood coffee shop, the rulebook goes out the window.
Asher is cute, charming… and being catfished by his online crush. So Wren makes an uncharacteristically impulsive decision—she pretends to be the girl he’s waiting for to save him from embarrassment. Suddenly she’s fake-dating a boy she knows nothing about. And it’s… amazing.
It’s not long before Asher has her breaking even more of her own rules. But will he forgive her when he finds out she’s not who she says she is? Wren’s not so sure… After all, rules exist for a reason.”

Cool selection, right? Whether I find these in my Christmas tree or not, I still really want to read them in the future. Oh, dear Santa, I’ve been good(ish) this year! I’ll take my reward in books, thank you very much!

What about you, friends? What books do you hope to get this Christmas? Do you have a book list for Santa ready? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading, aaaand I’ll see you in the next one!

My 8 Reading Goals for 2024

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! Are you excited for 2024? I know I am! Today I’m following up with a tradition here on the blog, with a post you already know was coming: my reading goals for the next year!

The reason why this is probably my favorite season of the year is because I’m a planner at heart. I always like to reflect on how the year went (good and bad), and I get inspired to plan and create new goals for my life! And of course, reading is a big part of who I am so of course I’m planning my reading year as well!

So after some thought and reflection, I came up with all the reading goals I want to achieve in 2024! Here they are:

1. Read 60 books

This is not news to you – every single year my reading goal is set to 60 books. This means I’ll read about 5 books per month, which is a good number for me! It’s easy for me to achieve, and I usually surpass this goal – but with that said, if I just get 60 books read in a year, I’ll be more than happy with my reading year!

2. Reduce book collection to less than 230 books

I’m so embarrassed to say that I’ve had this same goal for the past few years… and I never reached it! But can you blame me? Book shopping is so much fun! Ok, I digress. As I’m writing this, I currently have 280 books on my shelf. That’s a ridiculous amount of books to have, and my goal is to reduce my collection to a more manageable number. The truth is that nobody needs that many books, so it’s time for me to reduce my collection. For now, I’ll try to reduce it to 230 in 2024!

3. Read 24 books from my physical TBR

I had a similar goal last year, but this time I’m doing 24 books instead of 20! I’m thinking of reading at least 2 physical books per month anyway, so I think this is a doable number. As you know, I read books in different formats but I want to prioritize what’s currently on my shelf. Hopefully, this will go smoothly!

4. Read 2 fantasy series I have always wanted to read

I always struggle with fantasy series, so I decided to add this goal to the list! I have a hard time compromising with long series, but I want to fight this instinct! So in 2024, I want to go through some of them, like for example one of the following: Dune, The Lord of the Rings, A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Red Queen, City of Bones, Shadow and Bone, Throne of Glass, and many more!

5. Read 1 big book (>500 pages)

I’ve been struggling with this goal for the past few years, so for 2024 I’m going to try to read a single book over 500 pages. As I mentioned a million times before, I’m intimidated by big books, and since I know I’m missing out on some amazing stories, I need to fight this!

6. Only buy 12 books max

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “But Neide, you literally just said you want to reduce your collection”. Yes, that’s true, I do want to reduce my collection. I’m planning on doing this by selling my older books and by controlling my spending habits (in this case, on books). And that’s exactly why this goal exists. I still want to have some freedom and have fun by visiting a bookstore and buying a few books whenever I feel like it… but I want to do it in a controlled way. This way I’m allowed to buy only one book per month, and that should be more than enough!

7. Read 10 pages or a chapter a day

This may seem a simple one, but I really would love to read every single day. This is just a way for me to ensure I pick up a book every day. I know this is going to be a little challenging, but I think I can easily read 10 pages or 1 chapter a day, so I’m sure at the end of the day this will be a simple one to achieve.

8. Use my TBR Prompt List with my TBR Wheel

I haven’t told you about this yet, but I recently created a list of TBR prompts! It’s a random thing I created last month, and the goal is just to get a prompt randomly using my TBR wheel, and then pick a book based on the prompt. I made this list for fun and to help me pick books whenever I’m feeling indecisive. I’m thinking about including this in my monthly TBR posts! Should I do it?

So what do you think of my reading goals for 2024? I think all of the reading goals that I’m setting for 2024 are both challenging and achievable!

Tell me about you! Do you have any reading goals for 2024? Let me know!

See you in my next post 🙂

10 Books I would love to find under the Christmas tree | 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well and I hope you are excited for the holidays just like I am!

I think I unintentionally started a mini tradition by writing a “Books I would love to find under the Christmas Tree” post, so it only makes sense for me to keep it up!

Today I’m bringing you 10 books that I would be thrilled to find under my Christmas tree. These are books that have been on my radar for the last few months and I don’t have physical copies (yet).

Ok, enough talking – let’s dive in!

1. Heartstopper Vol. 5 by Alice Oseman

This is a highly anticipated read! I’ve been waiting for this book since it was announced. I’m very excited for the next chapter on Charlie and Nick’s lives, and I can’t wait to read about these amazing characters again!

2. King of Wrath (Kings of Sin #1) by Ana Huang

I’ve read the “Twisted” books this year, and I am curious to read more from Ana Huang. She started publishing this particular series in 2022, and there are already 3 books published – so why not dive into a new romance series? I’ve heard great things about this series, so I’m excited to put my hands on the books!

3. Flock (The Ravenhood #1) by Kate Stewart

Everyone and their mother is recommending this book! I believe this a darker romance, which, funny enough, is one of my palate cleanser genres. The fact that it is a series scares me a little, but I would still like to read it and know what it is all about.

4. Fourth Wing (The Empyrean #1) by Rebecca Yarros

I mean… are you really surprised this book is in here? This is probably the book I’m the most excited about – and I’m not only talking about this list, I mean from my entire TBR list. I have a feeling that I’m going to love this book, and if I got it for Christmas, I’m sure I would read it in a couple of days. The only reason why I haven’t started this is because there are only 2 books published in what is going to be a 5-book series. I don’t like to wait between books, so that’s why I haven’t bought and started this yet.

5. The Snow Girl by Sophie Anderson

I’m a sucker for a Sophie Anderson book! She writes the most amazing middle grades and I should know, because I’ve read all of her books so far. I’m hoping to get my hands on her latest work!

6. The Name Drop by Susan Lee

Okay, maybe I added this immediately to the list only by looking at the cover. Oh, and it’s a Susan Lee book – the same author as “Seoulmates“! Yeah, I don’t think it’s surprising this is part of the list.

7. Spy x Family Vol. 1 by Tatsuya Endo

During my trip to Japan, I discovered this manga series. It’s super popular there right now, and even knowing it’s still ongoing… I can’t help but be curious. I think I’m going to dive into this one soon!

8. A Magic Steeped in Poison (The Book of Tea #1) by Judy I. Lin

This series looks like the dose of magic I’m currently needing. I’ll admit I don’t know a lot about it, but it sure looks cool!

9. Behind the Net (Vancouver Storm #1) by Stephanie Archer

This is a series I discovered recently and it sounds exactly like something I would like. I’ve heard great things about the romance, so I’m now curious about it!

10. A Court This Cruel & Lovely (Kingdom of Lies #1) by Stacia Stark

Another book I heard a Booktuber talk about recently! The title is a little suspicious, but it sounds like a book I would enjoy from all the good things I heard about.

I know, these look so good! Either if I find these in my Christmas tree or not, I still really want to read these in the future. Oh dear Santa, I’ve been good(ish) this year! I’ll take my reward in books, thank you very much!

What about you, friends? What books do you hope to get this Christmas? Do you have a book list for Santa ready? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading, aaaand I’ll see you in the next one!

Special | How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists

Hello friends!

Today I’m bringing you a bit of a different post! I was thinking about how I kind of created a few “rules” (if you can call it that) when I think about the books I want to read each month. While I’m going through my TBR on Goodreads every month, I try to pick books according to these rules to create a balanced monthly list. It’s a formula I’ve been using that I feel like it works very well for me!

I was also thinking about a few things that I want to implement every month, so I thought I would write down everything – and why not share it with you?

So today that’s exactly what I’m bringing you! I’m sharing with you my formula to create a balanced monthly TBR list that works for me – and who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to create a formula that works for you too! So here are my “rules” for creating my monthly TBR lists:

1. Read 2 paperbacks

I’ve had this “rule” for a while now and let me tell you why it is important for me to follow it. I own so many physical copies of books that it’s getting ridiculous. I have so many books on my shelf just waiting for me to finally decide to pick them up! I think it’s important for me to keep reading them in this format so I can finally reduce my book collection – maybe I’m delusional, is that ever going to happen?

2. Listen to 2 audiobooks

This “rule” is also important but for a different (similar) reason.

3. Read 1 ebook

My e-reader is a very special tool to me! I love it so much that I always take it with me everywhere I go – grocery shopping, the gym, on walks… you never know when you’re going to need entertainment! My goal is to read one book per month in it because, not only do I take it with me everywhere, but it’s also good to read books that I don’t have physical copies for and for books I don’t feel like listening on audio. That way I can cover a lot of books!

These 4 rules have been the foundation of the way I pick books for my TBR lately, and they work wonderfully. But recently I came up with a few more rules that I want to implement, so here they are:

5. Read manga every month

I have so many manga series that I want to read, that I decided I should always be reading at least one. A quick note: this doesn’t mean that I’ll be finishing an entire series every month. The goal here is for me to just pick a series and read it throughout the month. If I don’t finish the series that month, I’ll continue the next month until it’s finished. I guess my only requirement will be to finish at least one volume per month. I love manga and I believe it’s a great palate cleanser to read between books!

6. Read a book from my “30 Oldest Book on my TBR” list

I’m keeping a list of the 30 books that have been on my TBR for the longest time, and I want to start to tackle them – I’m actually about to post about this list soon, so stay tuned! They deserve to be read, and I’m determined to read at least 10 of these before I get an updated version of the list again! For reference, here is the list of the oldest books on my TBR:

I have the tendency to pick more recent books, so the goal here is to make sure I’m reading some of the oldest books on my TBR, and give them the love they deserve! As a side note: it’s okay if I’m reading a book that is part of a series in this list. So for example, if I already read “You” by Caroline Kepnes (that is on this list) and I’m now reading the second book (that is not on the list), that will be okay because it means I’m making progress on the entire series.

7. Try to always read a book from a series

As I told you multiple times, I have a hard time reading the series – I have bookish commitment issues. So if I try to read at least one book from a series per month I’ll be making progress with a series! It doesn’t matter the format, as long as I read a series!

I think it’s important to remind (mostly myself) that life happens and sometimes things don’t work out the way we want. With that said, I’m going to try and follow this format whenever possible!

I’m excited to read all the amazing books on my radar, and hopefully this strategy will help 🙂 Again, I know this post is a little different from what I usually post, but I hope you liked it nonetheless.

Thank you for reading friends! See you in the next one.
