Wrap-Up | What I Read in November 2023

Hello friends!

As usual, I’m bringing you this month’s Wrap Up! November was a great reading month and I’m thrilled about all the books I read. I feel like in the past few months I’ve been reading really “easy” books (manga, simple romances, etc.) and I wanted to get back to normal to pick more complex books – and that’s exactly what I did!

Not only did I take my TBR list very seriously this month, but I also had some room to challenge myself and explore new books. The result was an impressive 13 read books in November! I can’t believe I ended up reading so many good books this month!

Well to be fair, I still read some manga books, but it was only a small portion of my reading month! I’ve read amazing books in November, and even found a few new 5-star reads! I’m very excited to share with you all of the books I’ve picked this month, so enough rambling – let’s take a look at the books:

1. Ink (Skin Books #1) by Alice Broadway: 2.5/5⭐

Starting with the last book I read this month, we have “Ink” by Alice Broadway. This is a book that is part of my Oldest 30 books in my TBR list, and I decided to add it to my TBR this month so I could start tackling my oldest books! This has been on my TBR for years and now I finally started this series! I’m sad to say it wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be. The concept of this dystopian series is unique and different, but the book is very slow and it felt like there were only a few scenes that were important to the book – the rest is just filler. I’m going to read the second book “Spark” in December, so hopefully, it gets a little more interesting!

2. My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing: 3.25/5⭐

I’ve been wanting to read this book for years! It’s funny how I barely pick thrillers anymore, but this was probably the only one I had on my TBR that I actually wanted to read for the story. A couple that spices up their boring lives and marriage by killing women together? That sounded so different and interesting! But unfortunately, this wasn’t what I expected, and I ended up giving 3.25 stars out of 5. It wasn’t bad, but I thought the story would be better and more engaging. Oh well, at least I’ve finally read it!

3. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma: 5/5⭐

I have to be honest with you, “Forbidden” completely shattered me and broke my heart – I’m not even being dramatic, it’s the truth. I’m still picking up the pieces and gathering my thoughts and emotions, but I have no doubt this is a 5-star read. I’ve never read a book that triggered so many strong emotions in me. Sure, I’ve cried before while reading a book, but this made me feel sadness, heartbreak, and anger on another level. Just writing about it is making me upset! I knew it would be a tough read, but it was way worse than I initially thought. It was an amazing book, even though I’m still mad about it. I’ll talk about it with you guys one day!

4. Ready Player One (Ready Player One #1) by Ernest Cline: 5/5⭐

I must tell you about “Ready Player One” because… oh my God! I can’t believe I took so long to start this series. I devoured this book like a mad woman and loved every second. It was such a fun reading experience that I believe I’ll probably reread it one day. I rated it 5 stars because it would be impossible for me to give a lower rating!

5. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen: 4/5⭐

I picked this randomly this month because I had time to read it and it has been on my TBR for a very long time. I didn’t know the story or anything about it before picking it up, so I was completely in the dark – but I ended up giving it a 4-star rating! It was a fascinating and well-made story. I have to say I found the animal abuse scenes disturbing and upsetting to read, but I get why they were important to the story. Later I found out this has a movie adaptation with Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. I might watch the movie now!

6. Best Self by Coach Mike Bayer: 5/5⭐

I’ve been eyeing “Best Self” for a few years now because I’m a huge fan of Coach Mike. So I finally read his book and I absolutely loved it! It’s a very hands-on book, which I wasn’t really expecting but it made sense because of its content. I ended up doing all the exercises and it made me reflect on my life and areas that need some help. It was the dose of inspiration I needed I plan on rereading it again in the future someday – I feel like I’m going to grab this one for the rest of my life to be honest!

7. The Guncle by Steven Rowley: 4.5/5⭐

Another book I picked randomly near the end of the month was “The Guncle”. This one in particular surprised me a lot! I admit I grabbed it thinking it would be just your average fun contemporary book, but in reality, it was super wholesome and had a great, unique story. It was way better than I had anticipated! I’ll talk to you about it soon!

8. Lovely War by Julie Berry: 3.5/5⭐

I almost DNF’ed “Lovely War” if I’m being completely honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling the theme of the book, the super slow pace, the weird connection between Greek mythology and the World War, the boring romance… but I’m glad I continued it because it got better. I wasn’t interested at first, but the pace picked up and I connected a little more to the story. It still wasn’t a 4-star read for me, but the last chapter where the author talks about the real historical facts behind the book made me like it more.

9. Twisted Hate (Twisted #3) by Ana Huang: 4.5/5⭐

This is a book I planned on reading in November, so it was part of my TBR! I almost didn’t finish this one on time, but fortunately, I finished two days before the month ended – it was a close call! I had a lot of fun reading this book and it’s my favorite from the “Twisted” series so far! I’m still missing “Twisted Lies”, so hopefully I’ll finish this series in December.

10. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 6 by Mia Ikumi: 3/5⭐

I’ve started my reading month by finishing the manga series “Tokyo Mew Mew”. I was missing the last 2 volumes, so one of my priorities this month was to finish the rest of the series. I thought the books were cute in general, but my interest in the series decreased with time. It started to get a little too nonsensical to me – but when the very young school kids get married at the end… Well, that was the nail in the coffin. To be fair, I believe it’s kind of normal in Japanese shojo that the MCs get married at the end… but I still think it’s pretty weird. Anyways, it’s still cute!

11. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 7 by Mia Ikumi: 3/5⭐

Already said everything above!

12. Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea: 4.5/5⭐

This was a random book I picked this month and I ended up loving it! I feel like it’s very difficult for a YA contemporary romance to leave a mark on me anymore, but there was something special about this book that I loved. I just had a lot of fun reading this and loved the story and characters. Definitely recommend it!

13. Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys: 3.5/5⭐

After finishing all of the audiobooks I had planned for the month, I decided to pick another one: “Between Shades of Gray” by Ruta Sepetys. This was the favorite book of a YouTuber I followed a few years ago, so I was curious and it has been on my TBR since then. It’s a work of fiction based on what happened to Lithuanians (and the other Baltic countries) after the Soviet Union annexed and occupied their country. These people were deported and imprisoned, and many of them ended up in Siberia doing forced labor. It’s an interesting, but sad story as you can imagine!

I was so surprised this month – I’ve read plenty of books and found multiple 5-star books. That rarely happens! I guess that’s what happens when I finally pick up more complex books. As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon.

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in October 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well as always! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of October!

Like I mentioned a million times before, October was a very busy month! I travelled to Japan for a couple of weeks and it was also my birthday at the end of the month. I can’t believe I’m 29 now! Time sure flies… but I digress!

I only added one book to my TBR this month because I knew reading wouldn’t be a priority and I wanted to give myself some freedom to do whatever I wanted! Interestingly enough, I ended up reading (way) more than I thought I would – I picked up a lot of manga novels in Japan, that’s the reason why.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the books I read this past month:

  1. Alice in Borderland Vol. 6 (omnibus) by Haro Aso: 4/5⭐
  2. Alice in Borderland Vol. 7 (omnibus) by Haro Aso: 3.5/5⭐
  3. Alice in Borderland Vol. 8 (omnibus) by Haro Aso: 3.5/5⭐
  4. Alice in Borderland Vol. 9 (omnibus) by Haro Aso: 3.5/5⭐
  5. The Bodyguard by Katherine Center: 4/5⭐
  6. The Woman in Me by Britney Spears: 5/5⭐
  7. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 1 by Mia Ikumi: 4/5⭐
  8. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 2 by Mia Ikumi: 4/5⭐
  9. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 3 by Mia Ikumi: 4/5⭐
  10. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 4 by Mia Ikumi: 4/5⭐
  11. Tokyo Mew Mew Vol. 5 by Mia Ikumi: 4/5⭐

I know this may seem like a lot of books, but keep in mind that almost the entire list consist of manga – only one is a “regular” book. While I was in Japan I felt really inspired by my environment so I picked up manga, so that’s why I read so many volumes this month!

I kept my TBR list for October very short by only selecting a single book, and this month’s selection was “The Bodyguard” by Katherine Center. I decided to pick it up on my 14 hour flight back to Europe, so when I got back home I was almost completely done with it! It was a really nice “feel good” kind of romance and I didn’t know how much I was needing it!

I’ve also finished the manga “Alice in Borderland” (finally) and I liked it a lot, but the last few volumes lost me a little and that’s why the ratings dropped a little. I’ll talk more about it in the review, but basically the pacing slows down a lot and I started losing interest.

The other manga series I read this month was “Tokyo Mew Mew”! When I was younger, the anime version was on, but I never gave it a try at the time. I just got to know the story and what it was about now, by reading the manga and I had a great time!

A new book I discovered this month was Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman in Me” – and you should’ve seen my face when I found out it would be published in just a few days (on October 24th). I knew I had to get my hands on it! It was a very easy and fast audiobook to listen to, since it was only about 5 hours, and I loved it. I felt so sad for her and for what’s she been through… it’s definitely a heartbreaking memoir. If you are or were a fan of hers at any point of your life, I definitely recommend checking it out.

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in September 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of September. Just like I was predicting, this was a slower reading month for me. Still, I was able to read a few books this month and I want to share them with you today!

Let’s take a look:

  1. Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow: 4.5/5⭐
  2. Alice in Borderland, Vol. 3 (Omnibus edition) by Haro Aso: 4/5⭐
  3. Alice in Borderland, Vol. 4 (Omnibus edition) by Haro Aso: 4/5⭐
  4. Alice in Borderland, Vol. 5 (Omnibus edition) by Haro Aso: 4/5⭐
  5. How Much Love Can a Heart Hold? by Angela Panayotopulos: 3.5/5⭐
  6. The Mermaid in the Millpond by Lucy Strange & Pam Smy: 3.5/5⭐
  7. Avocado Magic by Taltal Levi: 3.75/5⭐

I finally finished “Girl in Pieces”! I’ve started this book in June, but I had some trouble picking it up. It’s not that I wasn’t liking it, but I wasn’t in the mood to read it. So this month I forced myself to finish it and I was able to do it! I liked the story, but I have to say: it’s not for the faint of heart. This is a tough book to read, but it was definitely worth it.

As you can see, I’m still reading the “Alice in Borderland” manga series. I started this series in August, and so far I’m loving it. I’m also rewatching the tv show while reading this, so it’s fun to see the differences and similarities between them. This month I read the 3rd, 4th and 5th volumes!

I’ve also picked an ARC from BookSirens named “How Much Love Can a Heart Love?”. It’s a cute children’s book that talks about sisterhood with poetry, paired with beautiful illustrations. Was a quick read, but made me think a lot about my sister and how much I appreciate her.

Another book I read was the middle grade “Mermaid in the Millpond”. I first picked this up because I recognized Pam Smy as the illustrator, and I’m a huge fan of her work! I would describe this short book as a darker middle grade story – I wouldn’t necessarily call it a graphic novel, since there’s more text than images. It’s a sad book that talks about friendship, freedom, kindness and being vulnerable when you’re hurt.

I’ve also picked up an ARC from NetGalley for a children’s book named “Avocado Magic”. In this cute book, a father explains to his daughter that her growth is very slow, but it is there. So to help her understand, they sprout together an avocado seed to show her how slow growth can be. It’s a book that teaches children to be patient and show them how we grow slowly! It’s a very beautiful book with beautiful illustrations that I definitely recommend if you have children.

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in August 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of August.

As you’ll see in a second, I wasn’t loving my TBR again this month, so I guess I took a spontaneous trip to my comfort genres: graphic novels and romance!

I’ll say the same thing I said in the past month: I know I prepared my TBR right before the month started, but when the time came to start reading… I just wasn’t feeling the books I picked. So the month didn’t go exactly as I wanted, but I still managed to read a few books that made me happy!

What really matters to me is not the amount of books I read or if I complete the TBR for the month – it’s simply to maintain the connection I have with books. Keeping the habit of reading books frequently is something I really want, so in the end that is all that matters.

Anyways, I digress! Let’s move on and take a look at the books I read this past month:

  1. Alice in Borderland, Vol. 1 by Haro Aso: 4.5/5⭐
  2. Alice in Borderland, Vol. 2 by Haro Aso: 4.5/5⭐
  3. Twisted Love (Twisted #1) by Ana Huang: 4.25/5⭐
  4. Twisted Games (Twisted #2) by Ana Huang: 3.75/5⭐
  5. The Rainbow Catcher by Cédric Mayen: 2.75/5⭐

I think this is a first here on the blog: I read the first two books of two series… in the same month! I don’t think I ever did that? Anyways, I was still able to read 5 books this month, which was pretty good considering none of them was on my TBR list.

One of the series I’ve picked up this month was the amazing Alice in Borderland manga series! I genuinely can’t express with words how much I’m loving this! I first watched the tv show and I loved it, so I decided to pick up the manga and I’m having a great time reading this. It’s a little aggressive and wicked so I don’t think it’s for everyone, but for me it’s a great series.

Another series I’ve started was the “Twisted” series by Ana Huang. I bought these books during the Lisbon Book Fair a few months ago and I couldn’t stop thinking about them – so one day I just started them and now I can’t stop. I’m a sucker for romance, and I was feeling like reading for comfort this month so that’s exactly what I decided to do. So far I’m loving it and I understand the hype around those books!

The last book of the bunch is an ARC I’ve received through NetGalley called “The Rainbow Catcher”. This is also a graphic novel, but a standalone. I personally didn’t love this because of the story, but the artwork was beautiful. It was an easy read, but the story didn’t do much for me.

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in July 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of July – but keep your expectations low, because this wasn’t a great reading month.

I think it’s fair to say that I’m going through a bit of a reading slump. Looking back, I can see how few things contributed to this, but to sum it up: I had a busy month and I wasn’t loving my TBR.

And I know I prepared my TBR right before the month started, but what that didn’t work out very well is that I tried to follow up with the series I’ve started and I just wasn’t in the mood to read them. I have a hard time reading the series because I get bored of reading the same story. So this month didn’t go exactly like I wanted. But in reality what really matters to me is not the amount of books I read or if I complete the TBR for the month – it’s simply to maintain the connection I have with books. Keeping the habit of reading books frequently is something I really want, so in the end that is all that matters.

So let’s move on and take a look at the books I read this past month:

  1. Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner: 4.25/5⭐
  2. The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich by Deya Muniz: 3.75/5⭐

You saw that well – I read only 2 books this month! One of them was planned and the other one was a random book I picked!

Starting with my only read book from my July TBR, I’ve read ”Crying in H Mart”! This was a very nice book that made me cry a lot. If you don’t know what it’s about, it’s essentially a memoir and the focus is on the author’s difficult relationship with her mother. They didn’t get along growing up, but when they slowly start to get along her mother gets very sick and dies in a very short time. It’s a very sad book, full of regret and what ifs, but to me it was an important read. I saw myself in this book and it made me reflect on what really matters in life. I definitely recommend this one!

The other book I read was the fun “The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich”! I was looking for something light to read, and I came across this one! I loved everything about this book: the art was very beautiful, the story was fun, and the cheese puns made it special. It was a nice book to pass time, and for that reason I liked it. It doesn’t have a big plot going on, but it was fun!

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in June 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well as always! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of June.

I admit this was a slower month in terms of reading. I had a lot of vacation days this month, but I ended up using those days to run errands and take care of some things, so my reading time was affected. I’m still happy because I was still able to read a few books, but it was definitely a slower month.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the books I read this past month:

  1. Happy Ever After by Ivy Owens: 3/5⭐
  2. The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh: 4.5/5⭐
  3. Bravely by Maggie Stiefvater: 3/5⭐
  4. Scandalized by Ivy Owens: 4.5/5⭐

As you can see I ended up not finishing all the books I planned on reading in June, which hasn’t happened in a long time. I was able to read “Bravely” and “The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea” from that list, but then I picked “Scandalized” spontaneously and finished “Happy Ever After” which I’ve started in April.

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in May 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well as always! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of May.

This month was a good reading month and I was able to read a good amount of fun and interesting books! A lot of the books I read were in the 3 star tier, but I found a few gems this month! And surprisingly, I’m currently more inclined into reading fiction, but I still ended up reading a few non-fiction books in May.

Still, it was definitely a positive reading month for me, and I can’t wait to show what I read! So without further ado, let’s take a look at the books I read this past month:

  1. Lore by Alexandra Bracken: 3/5⭐
  2. Am I Normal Yet? (The Spinster Club #1) by Holly Bourne: 4.5/5⭐
  3. Me by Elton John: 3/5⭐
  4. The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben: 4/5⭐
  5. You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao: 4.5/5⭐
  6. I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki by Baek Se-hee: 4/5⭐
  7. Tudo o Que Somos Juntos / Todo Lo Que Somos Juntos (Deja Que Ocurra #2) by Alice Kellen: 3/5⭐
  8. Of Women and Salt by Gabriela Garcia: 4.5/5⭐

As you can see, May was a month with a lot of 3 and 4 star reads. I read so many amazing books this month, and I want to share with you my reading experiences!

Lore” and “Me” by Elton John were both 3 star reads, but for different reasons. I found “Lore” to be a little underwhelming and confusing and the first half of “Me” was a little too boring – it got better afterwards though!

One of the books I read this month was “Am I Normal Yet?” by Holly Bourne. The good thing is that I really enjoyed it, but the bad thing is that I didn’t know this was the first book of a series. I don’t know why, but I really dislike leaving book series unfinished! And to make matters worse, only the first two books were translated in my country. So now I have started a series that is not even fully available in paperback, in the language I started reading it. I’ll probably just read the series in an ebook format and in English, but I’m a little annoyed because I like to keep the format throughout the series I’m reading. I know, first world problems haha!

The only non-fiction book I read this month was the great “The Hidden Life of Trees”. I liked it, but I definitely don’t care about trees like the author does! His enthusiasm talking about trees was inspiring and I ended up learning a lot. I admit I was a little bored at times, but I believe this book has very valuable information!

“You’ve Reached Sam” was the book that broke my heart this month. It’s a very sad book, and it talks about very serious topics – but mainly grief. I just couldn’t stop crying during the last chapters and I believe this is a book that is going to be hard to forget.

Another great book I read was the Korean novel “I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki”. This was a very interesting non-fiction book! It was really cool to see the author’s therapy sessions with her psychiatrist and how she started to overcome her mental illness issues. It’s a very intimate and raw book, and very different from everything I have ever read.

The conclusion to the “Deja Que Ocurra” duology was really disappointing. I loved the first book, but after reading “Todo Lo Que Somos Juntos” this month (the second book), I’m finishing this duology with mixed emotions. I expected more than (mostly) lust for this book. Oh well, you win some you lose some!

I wasn’t planning on reading “Of Women and Salt” this month, but I picked it because it kept calling me! I truly loved this book and I will definitely recommend this to everyone. I would describe this as more of a feminist book, and the story is unbelievable and inspiring.

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in April 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! Today I’m bringing you my Wrap Up for the month of April. This month was a very good reading month and I was able to read a good amount of fun and romantic books! All the ratings for the books I read this past month are between the 3 and 4 stars tiers, so it was definitely a positive reading month for me!

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the 8 books I read this past month:

  1. The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary: 3.25/5⭐
  2. The Maze Runner Files (The Maze Runner #3.6) by James Dashner: 3/5⭐
  3. The Thief Who Sang Storms by Sophie Anderson: 3.25/5⭐
  4. A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass: 4.5/5⭐
  5. Blade of Secrets (Bladesmith #1) by Tricia Levenseller: 4.5/5⭐
  6. Master of Iron (Bladesmith #2) by Tricia Levenseller: 4.25/5⭐
  7. Tudo o Que Nunca Fomos / Todo Lo Que Nunca Fuimos (Deja Que Ocurra #1) by Alice Kellen: 4.25/5⭐
  8. She and Her Cat by Makoto Shinkai and Naruki Nakagawa: 4/5⭐

As you can see it was a mixture of very average reads and really amazing reads! I started the month by reading “The Road Trip” by Beth O’Leary, and I have to say… I wasn’t super impressed. I think Beth O’Leary has great books, but this was only an okayish read for me.

Turns out, I was still missing a little novella book from the “Maze Runner” series. So this month I picked up “The Maze Runner Files”. It was an okay novella, but I wasn’t expecting to find so much “reused” material. And NOW I’m done with “The Maze Runner” series!

I also read the most recent middle grade book from Sophie Anderson, named “The Thief Who Sang Storms”. It wasn’t my favorite from her, but I really liked the strong message of the book and the fantasy world she built! I would still recommend this one, because I feel like this was just a case of personal preference.

One of the books I was most excited to read was the amazing “A Thousand Heartbeats” by Kiera Cass. And guys… it didn’t disappoint! This was everything I could have hoped for a Kiera Cass book! “The Selection” series is still my number one pick, but this one comes right after. It was so good! Is it weird that I kind of want to read it again? Lol.

I’ve also read a YA fantasy duology I’ve wanted to read for a while now named “Bladesmith”! I’ve read both books from the duology this month (“Blade of Secrets” and “Master of Iron”) and I truly loved them! I highly recommend Tricia Levenseller’s books if you love YA fantasy. They’re always really short series or even standalones, so if you have commitment issues to lengthy series like I do, this is perfect for you!

I also went ahead and I started a book I was only planning on reading in May. I’m talking about the Spanish novel “Todo Lo Que Nunca Fuimos” by Alice Kellen, the first book in the contemporary romance duology “Deja Que Ocurra”. I read this very fast and I thought it was a good romance book… but I feel like I’ve read the same exact story before? Maybe in a Nicholas Sparks book? Still, the story was engaging and I felt like it was the perfect beach read!

Another great book I read was the Japanese novel “She and Her Cat”! This book follows four cats and their owners, but the cool part is that their stories intersect and they interact with each other. It was a little sad sometimes, but the wholesome story and “cat banter” was worth it!

As usual, I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in March 2023

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well. Let’s dive right into the Wrap Up for the month of March. This month was a good reading month and I was able to read 6 books in total! All the ratings for the books I read this past month are between the 3 and 4 stars tiers, so I think it was a positive reading month.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the books I read:

  1. The Fever Code (The Maze Runner #0.5) by James Dashner: 3.5/5⭐
  2. Crank Palace (The Maze Runner #3.5) by James Dashner: 4/5⭐
  3. The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-James: 3.5/5⭐
  4. The Club by Ellery Lloyd: 4/5
  5. Spare by Prince Harry: 4.5/5
  6. Once Upon a K-Prom by Kat Cho: 4/5

I can’t believe I’m finally saying this: I finally finished the entire (updated) “Maze Runner” series! I recently reread the trilogy and all the prequels because James Dashner released a new sequel for the series named “Crank Palace” and I wanted to refresh my memory before diving into it! That’s the reason why “The Fever Code” and “Crank Palace” are both on this list. I especially liked the new book and it was completely worth reading the entire story again.

I’ve also read a YA fantasy standalone I’ve wanted to read for a while now named “The Bone Houses”which I thought was fun and entertaining -, a K-Pop inspired YA romance book named “Once Upon a K-Prom” and a really interesting thriller named “The Club”! I had a great time reading them and I recommend them all.

Now the star of the month was the amazing “Spare” by Prince Harry. I’m going to leave most of my thoughts for the review, but I’ll say that this book was very surprising (and even shocking at times). I was amazed with how vulnerable and honest Harry was about his life in the monarchy, and how the press affected his life so much.

I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!

What about you guys? How was your reading month? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading friends, I’ll catch you guys later!

Wrap-Up | What I Read in February 2023

Hello friends!

This year is flying by and I can’t believe we’re already in March! That’s crazy to me because I feel like New Year’s Eve was about 2 or 3 weeks ago. What is going on? What kind of sorcery is this?

Anyways, I digress (as usual).

How are you doing today? I hope you are good and staying healthy! Are you ready to see what I read in February? I’m excited for this Wrap Up because I read amazing books this month and I can’t wait to share them with you. This past month went very well and I ended up reading some fairly new releases – by new I mean relesed in the past year. I gravitated mostly towards non-fiction and fantasy this month, so as you’ll see all the books are within these categories.

Ok, let’s take a look at the books:

  1. The Death Cure (The Maze Runner #3) by James Dashner: 3.5/5⭐
  2. The Kill Order (The Maze Runner #0.4) by James Dashner: 3.5/5⭐
  3. The Freshman (College Years #1) by Monica Murphy: 2.75/5
  4. How to Be Perfect by Michael Schur: 4.25/5
  5. The Office BFFs by Jenna Fischer & Angela Kinsley: 4/5
  6. Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton: 3.75/5

Like I said, I originally planned on reading 5 books in January and some of the books I read this month were part of that list. The book Sweet Bean Paste is a book written by a Japanese author and it was absolutely beautiful. The story was heartbreaking, but it was so worth it!

Another book I read was the second book in the Maze Runner series, The Scorch Trials! This was actually a reread because I read this for the first time a few years ago. I wanted to revisit this story and I’m loving it so far!

The other book I finished in January was The Girl Who Speaks Bear! I started this fantasy/middle grade book in 2022, but I made it my mission to finish it in January. The story is very well made! It may be a middle grade book, but the story is complex and full of magic! I really love Sophie Anderson’s books and I will always recommend them to other readers.

The one book that was a bit of a disappointment was The Freshman by Monica Murphy. I can’t exactly pinpoint what I didn’t love about this romance, but something felt off. I was hoping this would be more of a fun read, but it wasn’t exactly that. Still, it wasn’t terrible.

I’ll be posting the reviews for these books soon!
