TBR | September 2024

Hello friends!

It’s time for another monthly TBR List! This time I’m bringing you the books I’m planning to read in September.

If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. This is the formula I’m planning on keeping for this year, so the goal is to read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume per month.

So for September, I’m planning on reading 1 non-fiction book as an audiobook, 1 fantasy manga volume from my current series, and 4 romance books as 2 paperbacks and 2 ebooks. But I’ll show you in more detail! Here are the books I’m planning on reading:

This is the list I have to share with you today! Let’s take a closer look:

1. In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts by Gabor Maté

I loved “The Myth of Normal” by Gabor Maté, and from that moment on I knew I wanted to read more from this author! This book in particular caught my eye because it focuses on addition and its physical manifestations. This is a subject that I’m curious about, so I decided to add this book to my next TBR List! I just know this is going to be very interesting.

Synopsis

“He would probably dispute it, but Gabor Maté is something of a compassion machine. Diligently treating the drug addicts of Vancouver’s notorious Downtown Eastside with sympathy in his heart and legislative reform in mind can’t be easy. But Maté never judges. His book is a powerful call-to-arms, both for the decriminalization of drugs and for a more sympathetic and informed view of addiction. As Maté observes, “Those whom we dismiss as ‘junkies’ are not creatures from a different world, only men and women mired at the extreme end of a continuum on which, here or there, all of us might well locate ourselves.” In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts begins by introducing us to many of Dr. Maté’s most dire patients who steal, cheat, sell sex, and otherwise harm themselves for their next hit. Maté looks to the root causes of addiction, applying a clinical and psychological view to the physical manifestation and offering some enlightening answers for why people inflict such catastrophe on themselves.
Finally, he takes aim at the hugely ineffectual, largely U.S.-led War on Drugs (and its worldwide followers), challenging the wisdom of fighting drugs instead of aiding the addicts, and showing how controversial measures such as safe injection sites are measurably more successful at reducing drug-related crime and the spread of disease than anything most major governments have going. It’s not easy reading, but we ignore his arguments at our peril. When it comes to combating the drug trade and the ravages of addiction, society can use all the help it can get. –Kim Hughes”

2. Final Offer (Dreamland Billionaires #3) by Lauren Asher

I’m finally concluding the “Dreamland Billionaires” trilogy in September! I had fun reading the two first books so far, and I’m curious about the last brother’s story. It seems like this is a second-chance romance – which to be honest, it’s not my favorite trope -, so I’m a little apprehensive. I can only hope it’s good, fingers crossed!

Synopsis

Callahan
I’m the Kane brother everyone gossips about behind closed doors.
Trust fund brat. Washed-up athlete. High-functioning alcoholic.
No one knows the real me but her.
Lana Castillo—my childhood best friend and the only woman I ever loved.
When I broke her heart six years ago, I promised to never return to Lake Wisteria.
I kept my word until my grandfather’s will changed everything.
To receive my inheritance, I was tasked with spending a summer at the family lake house before selling it.
The request was simple in theory until my entire plan blew up on the very first day.
Turns out Lana doesn’t just live at the house, but she claims to own it, too
Alana
Falling in love with Callahan Kane was a mistake.
He told me so before destroying my heart and our friendship six summers ago.
When he promised never to come back, I foolishly believed him.
But then Cal showed up again, intending to sell his grandfather’s lake house.
The biggest flaw in his plan?
My name is on the deed.”

3. Death Note, Vol. 6 by Tsugumi Ohba

It’s time for another “Death Note” volume! So far I’m enjoying the story and since I never finished the anime, I’m getting to parts of the story that I didn’t know – which is pretty exciting! Also, I’ve been thinking about how long it’s taking me to read this manga series, so I’m planning on picking up the pace and trying to finish it by the new year! Let’s see if I can read more than 1 volume in September.

Synopsis

“Although they’ve collected plenty of evidence tying the seven Yotsuba members to the newest Kira, Light, L and the rest of the task force are no closer to discovering which one actually possesses the Death Note. Desperate for some headway, L recruits Misa to infiltrate the group and feed them information calculated to bring Kira into the open. But the Shinigami Rem reveals to Misa who the Kiras really are, and, armed with this knowledge, Misa will do anything to help Light. But what will that mean for L…?”

4. The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther

To be completely honest with you guys, I have no idea what this book is all about. I purposely have not read the synopsis, but it seems like a sad romance? I feel like reading a random book without knowing anything about it, so I decided to go with this one! I know it sounds weird, but sometimes I judge books too soon and I feel like I miss out on good stories because I automatically discard them after reading 5 words from the synopsis. I’m going to leave it below anyway for you, in case you want to know what the book is about. Wish me luck!

Synopsis

“Meredith Fox has been going to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer as long as she can remember. But this summer is the first one back since the death of Meredith’s sister. It will all be overwhelming, but even more since since the entire extended family will be together for her cousin’s big wedding.
Unfortunately, Meredith’s longtime boyfriend unexpectedly dumped her two weeks before the wedding, leaving her dateless. Luckily, she has the perfect distraction. Her family has a tradition of playing the ultimate game of Assassin every summer, and this year it will take place during the week of wedding festivities.
But her target just happens to be a very cute groomsman. She’s determined to not let herself get distracted, not let herself be lost in another doomed relationship. But as the week progresses, she can’t help falling for him, which may cost her not only the game, but also her heart.
Meredith’s family’s annual game of assassin at Martha’s Vineyard during a summer wedding is the perfect chance to honor her sister’s legacy, and finally join the world again. But when she forms an alliance with a cute groomsman, she’s at risk of losing both the game… and her heart.”

5. Romancing Mister Bridgerton (Bridgertons #4) by Julia Quinn

The most awaited book for me! I’m a huge Polin fan, so I’m very excited to finally get into their story! My hope for this book is that it will be better than their Netflix series – for which I had some mixed feelings. I hope the story is good – but I’ll find out when I finally read it in September!

Synopsis

“Everyone knows that Colin Bridgerton is the most charming man in London. Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for…well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret…and fears she doesn’t know him at all.
Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of everyone’s preoccupation with the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him in the first paragraph. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same – especially Penelope Featherington! The girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide…is she his biggest threat – or his promise of a happy ending?”

6. More Than We Can Tell (Letters to the Lost #2) by Brigid Kemmerer

I’ve been wanting to read this book for so many years now! I read “Letters to the Lost” – the first book in this duology – as a standalone about (I’m guessing) 6 or 7 years ago! Some time later I found out this book existed and I immediately added it to my TBR List! As you know, I finished rereading the first book recently because I wanted to have the story fresh in my mind before reading this book. This is one of the oldest books on my TBR (probably top 3), so I’m excited to finally read it!

Synopsis

“Rev Fletcher is battling the demons of his past. But with loving adoptive parents by his side, he’s managed to keep them at bay…until he gets a letter from his abusive father and the trauma of his childhood comes hurtling back.
Emma Blue spends her time perfecting the computer game she built from scratch, rather than facing her parents’ crumbling marriage. She can solve any problem with the right code, but when an online troll’s harassment escalates, she’s truly afraid.
When Rev and Emma meet, they both long to lift the burden of their secrets and bond instantly over their shared turmoil. But when their situations turn dangerous, their trust in each other will be tested in ways they never expected. This must-read story will once again have readers falling for Brigid Kemmerer’s emotional storytelling.”

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | August 2024

Hello friends!

Once again, I’m bringing you my TBR for the next month: August. I’m slowly getting back to reading again, so I made sure I picked good and interesting books this month!

If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. So without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading:

Yup, this is the list I have to share with you today! Let’s take a closer look at each book:

1. The Big Bang Theory by Jessica Radloff

This is a book that has piqued my interest since I first laid my eyes on it! As you can already tell by the title and cover, this is a book about “The Big Bang Theory” tv show! I love this show with all my heart for a few different reasons – not only did this show make me company on way too many occasions, but it felt relatable as a fellow nerd and former scientist, as well as it often uplifted my mood. So of course this is on my TBR list! I’m excited to take a peak behind the curtains and learn more about a show I adore so much! I’m sure I’m going to love this.

The book is the ultimate celebration of this once-in-a-generation show and a must-have for all fans.”

2. Terms and Conditions (Dreamland Billionaires #2) by Lauren Asher

I’m continuing the Dreamland Billionaires series this month! I’ve been wanting to read this trilogy for a while now, and since I read the first last month, I want to keep going. I hope I’ll like this story a little more!

Synopsis

But the more we act in love for the public, the more unsure I feel about our contract.
Caring about Iris was never part of the deal.
Especially not when breaking her heart is inevitable.
Iris
My plan to marry Declan was simple in theory.
Move in together. Throw a wedding. Have a baby.
We set rules to prevent any kind of issues.
Ones that were never meant to be broken, no matter how much Declan tempts me.
But what happens when our fake relationship bleeds into our real one?
Falling in love was never an option.
At least not for me.”

3. Death Note, Vol. 4 by Tsugumi Ohba

Also continuing my current manga “Death Note” in August. So far so good – nothing too crazy to say about this one!

Synopsis

“With two Kiras on the loose, L asks Light to join the task force and pose as the real Kira in order to catch the copycat. L still suspects Light and figures that this is the perfect excuse to get closer to his quarry. Light agrees to the plan in order to have free access to the task force resources. But when Light manages to contact the new Kira, he discovers that his rival is anything but as expected. Will Light escape from love unscathed?”

4. The Guncle Abroad (The Guncle #2) by Steven Rowley

Oh, I’m so ready for this! I picked up the first “Guncle” book a few months ago randomly and I ended up loving it so when I found out there was going to be a sequel I was so happy! So this month I’ll be listening to this as an audiobook. Very excited for this one!

Synopsis

“Patrick O’Hara is called back to his guncle duties… This time for a big family wedding in Italy.
Patrick O’Hara is back. It’s been five years since his summer as his niece Maisie and nephew Grant’s caretaker after their mother’s passing. The kids are back in Connecticut with their dad, and Patrick has relocated to New York to remain close by and relaunch his dormant acting career. After the run of his second successful sit-com comes to a close, Patrick feels on top of the world . . . professionally. But some things have had to take a back seat. Looking down both barrels at fifty, Patrick is single again after breaking things off with Emory. But at least he has a family to lean on. Until that family needs to again lean on him.
When Patrick’s brother, Greg, announces he’s getting remarried in Italy, Maisie and Grant are not thrilled. Patrick feels drawn to take the two back under his wing. As they travel through Europe on their way to the wedding, Patrick tries his best to help them understand love, much as he once helped them comprehend grief. But when they arrive in Italy, Patrick is overextended managing a groom with cold feet; his sister, Clara, flirting with guests left and right; a growing rivalry with the kids’ charming soon-to-be-launt (lesbian aunt), and two moody young teens trying to adjust to a new normal, all culminating in a disastrous rehearsal dinner.
Can Patrick save the day? Will teaching the kids about love help him repair his own love life? Can the change of scenery help Patrick come to terms with finally growing up?
Gracing the work with his signature blend of humor and heart, Steven Rowley charms with a beloved story about the complicated bonds of family, love, and what it takes to rediscover yourself, even at the ripe age of fifty.”

5. An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons #3) by Julia Quinn

The time for Benedict’s story has come! I’m a little sad because I know the moment I finish this book the TV show won’t surprise me anymore – but it’s fine, I’ll survive! I’m excited to read his story and see Benedict fall in love. Fingers crossed it’s good!

Synopsis

Sophie Beckett never dreamed she’d be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton’s famed masquerade ball—or that “Prince Charming” would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.
Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other—except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid’s garb whom he feels compelled to rescue from a most disagreeable situation. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. Yet, if he offers her his heart, will Benedict sacrifice his only chance for a fairy tale love?

6. Letters to the Lost (Letters to the Lost #1) by Brigid Kemmerer

This will actually be a reread! Fun story: this was one of the first books I read when I started getting more serious about reading more, so it holds a special place in my heart! But I never read the sequel, so I want to reread this first to revive my memory and then I’ll read the sequel next! I’m curious if I still like the story.

Synopsis

“Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother’s death, she leaves letters at her grave. It’s the only way Juliet can cope.
Declan Murphy isn’t the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he’s trying to escape the demons of his past.
When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can’t resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they’re not actually strangers. Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | July 2024

Hello friends!

As always, I hope you’re doing well! I heard you want to know all about my reading plans for July – so I’m here to deliver! I’m very excited about today’s list because it’s full of books I’m truly excited to read. But I’ll tell you all about it in a sec!

If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. This is the formula I’m planning on keeping for the new year, so the goal is to read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume.

Well, I do have to give you a small disclaimer before I show you the books! I usually don’t do this often, but since the last month was pretty slow reading wise, I decided to put some of the books I planned on reading last month here. Meaning, you probably have seen some of these books on my last TBR lists.

So without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading:

This is the list I have to share with you today! Let’s take a closer look:

1. Death Note, Vol. 3: Confluence by Tsugumi Ohba

This month I’ll be continuing the “Death Note” series! I started this manga series in May and in July I’ll be reading the 3rd book. I’m definitely enjoying the manga version so far. I’m getting more and more inclined to watch the manga one day. I’m curious to see where the story is going!

Synopsis

“Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects–and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal…or his life?”

2. The Dating Drama (My K-Drama Life #2) by Sara Martin

I started this duology in May, but I never finished it so I’ll be continuing it in July. From what I’ve read so far, the story seems a little weird, but I still want to give it a fair chance! Also, I’ve noticed this was originally a duology, but recently it became a trilogy – I’m not sure if I’ll read the third book yet, to be honest. For now, my focus is to read the second book in July

Synopsis

“Chloe Gibson’s dating the man of her dreams-a talented and gorgeous K-drama star. But there’s just one catch: they have to keep their relationship secret. This isn’t the ideal romance Chloe used to fantasise about.
Fortunately, there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon. The couple have an agreement that after one year of dating in secret, they’ll front up to the South Korean media and go public with their relationship.
But the year won’t be smooth sailing.
When a mysterious package shows up, Chloe’s life is thrust into chaos. Soon she’s being plagued by creepy anonymous messages and the unsettling feeling she’s being followed.
The question is no longer whether the relationship will survive, it’s will Chloe survive?”

3. The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté

Anothe book I would like to finish in July is “The Myth of Normal”. This was a book recommended to me a few months ago by my therapist! I decided not to look too much into it before picking it up, but I’m sure this will be a very interesting read. I’m very excited to see what this is all about, so I’ll be listening to this book in the audiobook format.

Synopsis

“In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?
Over four decades of clinical experience, Maté has come to recognize the prevailing understanding of “normal” as false, neglecting the roles that trauma and stress, and the pressures of modern-day living, exert on our bodies and our minds at the expense of good health. For all our expertise and technological sophistication, Western medicine often fails to treat the whole person, ignoring how today’s culture stresses the body, burdens the immune system, and undermines emotional balance. Now Maté brings his perspective to the great untangling of common myths about what makes us sick, connects the dots between the maladies of individuals and the declining soundness of society—and offers a compassionate guide for health and healing. Co-written with his son Daniel, The Myth of Normal is Maté’s most ambitious and urgent book yet.”

4. The Breakup Tour by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

I haven’t even start this one yet – but I’m very curious about it! From the moment I discovered this book was going to be released this year, I immediately added it to my TBR list. It seems so Taylor Swift coded – so right up my alley! I’m excited to read this on my e-reader, so I’ll be starting this (finally) in July.

Synopsis

“A rising-star musician has a second chance at love with an old flame she remembers all too well in this swoony romance from the acclaimed authors of The Roughest Draft.
Riley Wynn went from a promising singer-songwriter to a superstar overnight, thanks to her breakup song concept album and its unforgettable lead single. When Riley’s ex-husband claims the hit song is about him, she does something she hasn’t in ten years and calls Max Harcourt, her college boyfriend and the real inspiration for the song of the summer.
Max hasn’t spoken to Riley since their relationship ended. He’s content with managing the retirement home his family owns, but it’s not the life he dreamed of filled with music. When Riley asks him to go public as her songwriting muse, he agrees on one he’ll join her in her band on tour.
As they perform across the country, Max and Riley start to realize that while they hit some wrong notes in the past, their future could hold incredible things. And their rekindled relationship will either last forever or go down in flames.”

5. The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn

I’m a little demotivated to read this book if I’m being honest. I love the Bridgertons, but the books so far are not what I’ve expected. And from what I’ve read from this book so far… it seems a little boring. I want to continue this series either way, because I’m excited to read Anthony’s story, and I’m also curious about Colin and Penelope – and before you ask, of course I’m very much obsessed with the new season of the show! If you never watched it… what are you doing?! Go watch it ASAP!

Synopsis

“1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London’s most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better… —Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1814
Anthony Bridgerton needs a wife.
Having spent his twenties in a rakish pursuit of pleasure, he knows it’s high time he settled down and ensured the continuation of the Bridgerton line.
Edwina Sheffield is considered the most beautiful debutante of the current season. She is also sweet, innocent and eminently biddable – Anthony is sure she’ll make a perfectly acceptable wife and vows to make her his.
The only obstacle in his way is Edwina’s older sister, Kate. Kate is determined to do all she can to allow her sister the chance to marry for love rather than convenience. And the roguish viscount is beginning to think he may have met his match in Kate’s keen wit and sharp tongue. Until, that is, he makes the mistake of kissing her…”

6. The Fine Print (Dreamland Billionaires #1) by Lauren Asher

Another book I started last month, but haven’t finished yet. I’ll be picking up right where I left on the “Dreamland Billionaires” series! This seems like a great option for me to since I love romances and I read them easily. I heard good things about this series, so I’m excited to be part of the hype!

Synopsis

“Rowan
I’m in the business of creating fairy tales.
Theme parks. Production companies. Five-star hotels.
Everything could be all mine if I renovated Dreamland.
My initial idea of hiring Zahra was good in theory, but then I kissed her.
Things spiraled out of control once I texted her using an alias.
By the time I realized where I went wrong, it was too late.
People like me don’t get happy endings.
Not when we’re destined to ruin them.
Zahra
After submitting a drunk proposal criticizing Dreamland’s most expensive ride, I should have been fired.
Instead, Rowan Kane offered me a dream job.
The catch? I had to work for the most difficult boss I’d ever met.
Rowan was rude and completely off-limits, but my heart didn’t care.
At least not until I discovered his secret.
It was time to teach the billionaire that money couldn’t fix everything.
Especially not us.”

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | June 2024

Hello friends!

It’s time for our monthly TBR List, so let me present to you my June TBR!

If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. This is the formula I’m planning on keeping for 2024, so the goal is to read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume every month.

So for this month, I’m planning on doing exactly that! I’m continuing my current manga series and one of the romance series I’ve started, and I’m going to start a new romance trilogy! I also added two more romances – because why not – and a thriller I’ve had on my TBR list for a while.

Ok so without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading in June:

1. Death Note, Vol. 2: Confluence by Tsugumi Ohba

I started this manga series in May and I’ll be continuing it in June. I kind of wish I had given this a fair opportunity in anime, because I’m enjoying the manga version. Maybe one day I’ll watch it! For now, I’ll be happy by reading the second book of the series in June. Fingers crossed!

2. The Breakup Tour by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

From the moment I discovered this book was going to be released this year, I immediately added it to my TBR list. It seems so Taylor Swift coded – so right up my alley! I’m excited to read this on my e-reader, so I’ll be starting this in June.

3. The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn

Oh, how I love the Bridgertons! I’m very excited to continue this series in June, and even though I’m excited to read Anthony’s story, I can’t wait to get to Colin and Penelope – and before you ask, yes, I’m very much obsessed with the Netflix show thank you very much! If you never watched it… what are you doing?! Go watch it ASAP!

4. ASAP (XOXO #2) by Axie Oh

Another light romance to add to the bunch! I’ve become a fan of the author Axie Oh, so I’m very interested to read more from her. This seemed like a good option, so I’ll be listening to this as an audiobook.

5. The Fine Print (Dreamland Billionaires #1) by Lauren Asher

For my paperbacks, I’m going to keep it light this month since I’m not very into paper at the time. For this reason, I’ll be picking up the “Dreamland Billionaires” series! This seems like a great option for me to pick up since I love romances and I read them easily. I heard good things about this series, so I’m excited to be part of the hype!

6. Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica

I’m adding a thriller for June to mix things up a little! This is a very romance-oriented month, so I want to add something different to the mix. I don’t know much about this book, but it has been on my TBR for a while now. Hopefully, this is a good one!

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for June! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | May 2024

Hello friends!

It’s time for our monthly TBR List, so let me present to you my May TBR!

If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. This is the formula I’m planning on keeping for 2024, so the goal is to read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume every month.

Now with that said… I’m not going to follow this format for May. I’m behind on my paperbacks, so I decided to keep it simple and I’ve picked up only audiobooks and digital copies. To be honest with you, I definitely didn’t plan for my year to go this way, but I’m just going to accept it and roll with it. It is what it is! At the end of the day, I’m still reading so that’s all that matters.

Without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading in May:

1. Beyond the Story by BTS

This is probably the book I’m the most excited to read from the bunch! I love BTS and I miss them terribly, so I thought I would read their official biography. I’m pretty sure this came out last year, during the same time the younger members started their military service. I’ve heard great things about this! It’s about their 10-year journey as idols, and I’m very curious to discover new things about them. My hope is that they have opened their hearts and let themselves be vulnerable. Super excited for this one!

2. The Dating Drama (My K-Drama Life #2) by Sara Martin

I started this romance series on my e-reader in April, so my goal is to read the second book of the series in May! I’ve noticed this was originally a duology, but recently it became a trilogy – I’m not sure if I’ll read the third book yet, to be honest. For now, my focus is to read the second book. We’ll see how that goes!

3. The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté

This was a book recommended to me a few months ago by my therapist! I decided not to look too much into it, but I’m sure this will be a very interesting read. I’m very excited to see what this is all about, so I’ll be listening to this book in the audiobook format.

4. Death Note, Vol. 1 by Tsugumi Ohba

I’m finally starting a new manga (yeeey)! For the last few months I’ve been reading the “Pita-Ten” manga series, and I needed something fresh! I decided to start the “Death Note” manga series this month. This series consists of 12 volumes, so that means I’ll be reading this for a while – I just hope this will be a fun series! I’m compromising on reading a single volume in May.

5. The IT Girl by Ruth Ware

Since I’ve not been reading a lot of thrillers in the past few months, I’m going to pick up one from my TBR: “The It Girl” by Ruth Ware. I don’t know that much about this, but the synopsis seemed interesting, so why not? I’m listening to this as an audiobook.

6. The Duke and I (Bridgertons #1) by Julia Quinn

I’ve already added this book to my TBR a few months ago because I have the first two books in paperback. The truth is that I’m very excited to read these books, so I just want to start them right away!

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for May! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | April 2024

Hello friends!

Oh, how I love planning new TBR Lists! There’s nothing better than planning the books you are going to read next – well, maybe buying books actually. I often say that reading books, buying books, and planning what books you’re reading are 3 separate and distinct hobbies! Anyway, I digress. Welcome to another monthly TBR friends! Today I’m showing you the 6 books I’m planning on reading for April.

Initially, I planned on following my trusty rules when creating a TBR List. If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. This is the monthly formula I’m planning on keeping for 2024: read 2 paperbacks, listen to 2 audiobooks, read 1 ebook, and read 1 manga volume.

Now with that said, I’m changing the formula once again for April to fit my current reality. I’ll talk about this in detail in my next post (my March Wrap Up) but, long story short, I’m just not in the mood for physical books at the time. I’m grabbing my e-reader a lot lately because I take it to work and to the gym regularly, so I decided to substitute a paperback for a digital book. This means my formula for April will be to read 1 paperback, listen to 2 audiobooks, read 2 ebooks, and read 1 manga volume. I still want to add a paperback to the list because I have so many waiting for me. So that’s the plan for April.

Ok, time to look closer at the books! Without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading:

1. The Practice Kiss (My K-Drama Life #1) by Sara Martin

One of the ebooks I want to read this month is the first romance book in the “My K-Drama Life” series. Since I’ve been very into my e-reader, I figured I could substitute one of my paperbacks with this beauty! I’m very excited to read this since I’m a k-drama lover, so this immediately caught my eye. The cover is stunning and I can only hope the story matches the cover! We’ll see how that goes.

2. Isla and the Hapily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3) by Stephanie Perkins

I started this series in March and I’m having the best time reading it! Initially, I was planning on putting the second book in the series “Lola and the Boy Next Door” here, but since I already started it (not planned) in March, I’m adding the third and final book of the series to my TBR! I’ll be listening to the audiobook version for this one.

3. Pita-Ten Vol. 7 by Koge-Donbo

It’s finally over – well, almost over! I thought this was the last volume from the manga series “Pita-Ten” that I have been reading for the last few months, but apparently, there is an 8th volume! I’m ready to finish this series and start a fresh new one soon. Only two more volumes to go!

4. How to Keep House While Drowning by K.C. Davis

I was looking for a non-fiction book from my TBR pile to add to my reading month, and this book jumped out saying “pick me pick me”! And so I listened. I think I’m going to learn a few new things to use in my daily life, so I’m excited to see what that will be!

5. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

For my paperback, I wanted to pick a book that really intrigued me, so I went for “A Little Life” to read in April. This is a super popular literary fiction book and I want to understand why this is so popular. To be completely honest, I’m not sure what this is about – I just know it’s about a group of friends… but I prefer to go into it without a lot of information and just enjoy the story. Anyway, fingers crossed!

6. Entwined by Heather Dixon Wallwork

I actually started this recently, but I decided to add it to my official TBR for this month. I thought this would be a great addition to the list, because not only do I wanted to pick a digital read, but I also want to read something from my “Oldest 30 Books From My TBR” List – so this is the perfect pick! I’m not too far into the book, but so far it’s okay.

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for April! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | March 2024

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! The new month is right around the corner and you know what that means: I’m bringing you all the books I plan on reading in March!

If you read my last TBR post, you know I changed my reading format for February. I started accumulating a lot of physical/digital reads so I decided to do an almost exclusively audiobook month so I could finish all of my physical/digital books. But now that February is almost over and March is here, I want to return to my regular yearly plan!

In my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, I share my personal magical formula to create the perfect reading month. This is the formula I’m planning on keeping for the new year: read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume per month.

For March, I’m going to follow the formula with a small twist: instead of reading 2 paperbacks and 1 ebook, I’m going to do 1 paperback and 2 ebooks instead! The reason behind this decision is that I really want to finish the “Ink” series that I’m currently reading on my Kobo (I’m literally so tired of this series, I really want to finish it once and for all), and I’m also very curious about a Japanese book I found out recently that is also already available on my Kobo. So this month, I’m only planning on reading 1 paperback to compensate for the time I’m going to need for my digital reads.

Ok, so let’s take a look at the books I’m planning on reading the next month.

1. Confessions by Kanae Minato

This was the Japanese book I just told you about! I learned about this book in January and as soon as I read the synopsis, I was instantly very curious about it! It seems like it’s a very dark and intense book, but I’m not intimidated and I’m excited to experience it myself.

2. Pita-Ten (Vol. 6) by Koge-Donbo

For my monthly manga, I’m continuing the Pita-Ten series by reading the 6th volume! I’m starting to feel like I want to grab something new, so maybe I’ll try to finish the remaining volumes this month as well.

3. Hello Stranger by Katherine Center

For some reason, I struggled a lot with adding the last audiobook to the list! I didn’t have any book in mind, so I kept browsing my audiobooks until I found something I could be in the mood for, and I finally decided on the book “Hello Stranger”. I read “The Bodyguard” by the same author and I loved it, so why not give this one a go? I can only hope this is just as good!

4. Scar (Ink #3) by Alice Broadway

Please, Lord, give me the strength to finish this series soon. I was so excited when I first started this trilogy, but day by day my enthusiasm keeps dying. I also don’t feel like DNFing this because I don’t like to leave it unfinished, so I’ll just keep going for now.

5. City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare

A series I’m excited to start that is also part of my “Oldest 30 Books From My TBR” list! I know this may sound super weird, but I never read anything by Cassandra Clare – I know, I know, please don’t judge me, I’m judging myself enough for the both of us. It’s time to break the Cassandra Clare curse this month, so this will be my paperback for the month!

6. Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss #1) by Stephanie Perkins

This is also another attempt to make some progress on reading from my “Oldest 30 Books From My TBR” list! This trilogy is part of the list, so why not start it this March? I feel like I’m probably a little too old for this now, but we’ll see… if I don’t like I’ll just take it out of my TBR.

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for March! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | February 2024

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! It’s time to show you all the books that I’m planning on reading in February!

Let me start by saying this month will be a little different! If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to plan my reading month. But this month we are doing something different! For reference, I usually read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume each month – but this month I’m going to mix things up a bit and I’m going to listen to 5 audiobooks and 1 manga.

I need to explain this temporary change on my monthly TBR, so here we go: friends, my life is a MESS! I’m currently going through a lot of changes in my life and there is so much going on that needs my full attention that I just can’t find the time to read a physical book at the moment.

At the same time, I don’t want to compromise my reading altogether, so I decided to pick the same number of books (6), but do it more flexibly. So that’s why I’ve decided to listen to 5 audiobooks and 1 volume of the manga I’m currently reading. I can incorporate audiobooks more easily in my daily life and reading 1 manga volume a month is also doable.

I guess I could do at least one paperback, but I just don’t want to commit to doing it and fail miserably at the end. Another reason why I decided to change the format this month is that I still have a bunch of physical books to finish from the previous months, and I would rather to make progress on them instead of starting a new book.

So there you go, that’s why I’m doing a different format. But have no fear, this is only temporary until I get my life on track. It’s going to be a very interesting month, to say the least (nervous laughter)! So without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading in February:

1. The World’s Religions by Huston Smith

Starting strong with the first book! I don’t know a lot about other religions and I want to learn more about the subject, so I found this book and quickly added it to my TBR. I’m sure this is going to be the most complex book of the bunch, but I’m excited to learn more this upcoming month!

2. Pita-Ten (Vol. 4) by Koge-Donbo

For my monthly manga, I’m continuing the Pita-Ten series by reading the 4th volume! Last month I only read 1 volume, so I’m hoping I can make some progress with this series this month and maybe read more than just the 4th volume. We’ll see!

3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

This is a book I always wanted to read, so I finally decided to add it to my TBR this month. I also never saw the movie and I know nothing about the story – yes, I’ve been living under a rock apparently -, so I’m going into this without knowing a thing! I’m excited to finally know this story.

4. Never Grow Up by Jackie Chan

One of the audiobooks I’m planning on reading in February is Jackie Chan’s memoir, named “Never Grow Up”. It’s not like I’m Jackie Chan’s biggest fan and I know all about his work, but I admire him a lot and I feel like he was a pioneer in his field! I have a really good feeling about this memoir, and I hope it’s a good one.

5. Sea Witch Rising (Sea Witch #2) by Sarah Henning

The other audiobook I want to read this month is the second book of the “Sea Witch” duology! I started this duology in January because it’s part of my “Oldest 30 Books on my TBR” list, and I plan on finishing the entire thing in February. I’ll admit I’m not expecting a lot from this book because apparently, the story is completely different from the first book, but hopefully, it’s still entertaining!

6. Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove #1) by Shelby Mahurin

This is another book I’ve had on my TBR for a while now and it’s time to give it a go! This is a fantasy series I don’t know much about, but this is just one of those cases I prefer to get into the story without reading the synopsis. I want it to surprise me! Hopefully, it’s a good book and is a great start of the series.

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for February! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | January 2024

Hello friends!

I hope you’re doing well! I hope you’re enjoying your holidays, and even though I am too… you know me – I’m always too eager to start working on my yearly goals and on my brand-new TBR! So that’s exactly what I’m bringing you today: all the books that I’m planning on reading in January!

If you read my post on How I Create My Monthly TBR Lists, you already know my magical formula to create a reading month. This is the formula I’m planning on keeping for the new year, so the goal for January is to read 2 paperbacks, 2 audiobooks, 1 ebook, and 1 manga volume.

If everything goes well, I’m starting 2 new series (a contemporary and a fantasy), and hopefully, I’ll finish the trilogy I was reading for the past few months. The manga I’m currently reading is from a series I started in December so I’m excited to continue the story and make some progress. To complement all these series, I’ve picked 2 literary fiction books from my TBR as well – one historical and one contemporary.

It’s going to be a very interesting month! So without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading in January:

1. As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh

This is a recent addition to my physical TBR, but I admit I don’t know a lot about it. I really want to dive into this book without knowing much about it because I want to have the experience of just exploring a subject I don’t know a lot about. I’ve heard great things about this, so I’m excited to see it for myself!

2. Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll

I’ve seen this book before, but it wasn’t until I saw Warren (a friend of the blog! Hi Warren!) mentioning it in a previous blog post that I decided to read this book. I’ve taken a look at the synopsis and I found the book really interesting. So why not add it to the reading list this month? Thank you again for the suggestion Warren!

3. Magnolia Parks (Magnolia Parks Universe #1) by Jessa Hastings

I’m super curious about this series so I decided to read it this month! A Youtuber I follow always raves about how much she adores this series, so I immediately got curious to see what it’s all about. She says it reminds her of Gossip Girl – and I love Gossip Girl. We’ll see how this one goes!

4. Pita-Ten (Vol. 3) by Koge-Donbo

This is the manga I started in December and the goal for January is just to continue this series. I’ll probably end up reading more than one volume, but the goal is just to read at least this volume until the end of January.

5. Scar (Ink #3) by Alice Broadway

I’m hoping I’ll be finally done with this series in January. To be honest, when I first started this series I thought the story would be better. I’m not loving it, but I still want to do it right and finish the entire thing since I’ve already read the first 2 books. I’m not expecting a lot at this point, but maybe the conclusion will surprise me… a girl can dream!

6. Sea Witch (Sea Witch #1) by Sarah Henning

I’ve picked this series from my 30 Oldest Books From My TBR list so that I can keep tackling my oldest books! Also, I’m feeling like reading a sea-themed fantasy book so this is the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Fingers crossed!

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for January! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!

TBR | December 2023

Hello friends!

Yup, you read the title – time for another TBR List! I’ve already decided what books I want to read in December, so let’s dive in!

If I was a normal reader, I would probably add a few holiday-themed books here… but you already know I’m not that kind of person (I really wish I was). I’m not a seasonal reader and every time I do pick seasonal books, one of two things happened: either I forced myself to try to be a seasonal reader, or… it was just a coincidence! Well, the point is: you won’t find Holiday books here, I’m sorry to disappoint you.

The big focus this month is to finish/continue a few series I’ve started this year. This includes the “Ready Player One” duology, the “Twisted” series, and the “Ink” series. To complement these books, I also added a memoir, a manga and a contemporary romance.

I think the books I picked are still pretty interesting! So without further ado, here are the books I’m planning on reading this next month:

1. Ready Player Two (Ready Player One #2) by Ernest Cline

I read the first book in this duology in November and now I want to finish the second book in December. I had such an amazing time reading “Ready Player One” that I hope the second book is just as fun and creative.

2. This Time It’s Real by Ann Liang

I don’t know a lot about this book and I don’t plan on knowing when I pick it up! I just know this is a contemporary romance with a fake dating trope – and that’s it! It looks cute, so I added it to my TBR List a few months ago. I believe this will be a good palate cleanser to read between the 3 series I’m reading.

3. Twisted Lies (Twisted #4) by Ana Huang

Hopefully, I’ll still be able to finish this book by the end of the year. So far I like this series, but it’s definitely not as good as the hype tells you. Still, the perfectionist in me can’t leave a series unfinished, so we’re going for it in December!

4. Spark (Ink #2) by Alice Broadway

This is another series that I also started in November. I have had this series on my TBR for so many years, so I wanted to give it a fair try! Probably won’t finish the entire trilogy this year, but I’ll probably read the third book in January. We’ll see how it goes!

5. Pageboy by Elliot Page

This is a book that I’ve been very curious to read since I first heard about it. I feel like I’ve read a good share of memoirs this year, so I feel like this is the perfect way of ending the year! I’m very curious to read Elliot Page’s story (and hopefully he’s the one narrating the audiobook).

6. Pita-Ten (Vol. 1) by Koge-Donbo

I’ve watched the anime “Pita-Ten” online and I really liked it! I’ve been wanting to start the manga for a few years now, so I think this is the perfect opportunity to start this series. I hope it’s just as good!

Aaaand there you have it friends, my TBR list for December! As usual, I hope you liked this post! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me. You know I’m always grateful for those!

Thank you for reading, have a great day!
