“Sometimes, the grass is not greener on the other side, and we should stay in the field where we belong. And sometimes we just need to take a gamble and hope for the best.” – 4/5 stars!
Attention! This book contains: weddings, secrets, babies, dead bodies, polaroids and DNA samples.
This book is absolutely insane! I’ve never read a book like this before, and I’m really glad I decided to pick it up. This science fiction book is about how a scientist discovered that it was possible to find your perfect match – or like they like to call it, the One – through a DNA matching system. All you need to do is send a DNA sample to the company, and after a few months you receive an email with the results. So you would think that finding your perfect match would be good, right? Well, not exactly. Even though the possibility of finding your perfect match is an amazing thing, it also brings a lot of bad consequences for the ones who take the test. The most common consequence is how people break up with their partners because they find out who their perfect match is. So in this book we follow five different people – Mandy, Christopher, Jade, Nick and Ellie – who get their DNA match results, but with not so great consequences!
My favorite stories were Nick’s and Christopher’s, without a doubt! I was thinking of writing about each story individually, but it’s very difficult to not spoil the entire book.
I know this is considered a thriller, but despite what happens in the book – specially with Christopher -, I would say this is a lighter version of a thriller.
I also liked the audiobook version, specially because of the different character accents!
It’s not the usual type of book I go for, but it was very interesting! I definitely recommend this one.
